You must be a Singapore citizen, permanent resident or valid pass holder under the age of 65 with no travel outside of Singapore for at least 14 days prior to the purchase of this policy.
You must have never been refused to buy or renew any Personal Accident Insurance. Nor has your insurance been cancelled or voided by your insurer.
You must not have previously tested positive for COVID-19, nor have been advised to self-isolate or self-quarantine by a medical professional or the Singapore Government.
Infectious Diseases (including COVID-19) have a 15-day waiting period while Food Poisoning has a 90-day waiting period from the start date of your policy coverage. Please note that you have to been in Singapore for at least 14 days when you purchase the policy. Customers who purchase SingSaver and FWD’s Exclusive Personal Accident and Infectious Disease Insurance from 30th April 2020 onwards can make claims related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
If you need to make a claim on your insurance, you can access your claim form here.
Alternatively, you can contact SingSaver Insurance Brokers Pte. Ltd. or FWD. Please note that as an insurance broker, SingSaver will facilitate the process but the claims decision lies with the insurance company (FWD). You should contact us or FWD as soon as possible as each company has a slightly different claims process.
When making a claim, you’ll be typically be asked to provide some documents before your claim can be approved. This includes, but is not limited to:
Once you’ve provided the necessary documents, FWD will keep you notified of the claims process.
Exclusively offered to you jointly by FWD Singapore and SingSaver, this plan covers you for both personal accidents as well as infectious diseases such as COVID-19, Dengue and Zika virus. It has the most comprehensive coverage for Infectious Diseases (including COVID-19), covering an extensive list of 24 infectious diseases while providing the highest death benefit payout for COVID-19 in the Singapore market.
For the FWD Personal Accident and Infectious Disease Coverage, you pay a one-off annual premium for a 1-year coverage period. Should the situation arise, you can file for claims with the insurance company and get reimbursed for the components covered in the policy.
An accidental injury is an injury that has a visible impact on a person’s external appearance and is caused by a sudden, unexpected and unintentional event. For example, it could be an accident that results from participation in sports, a car accident or an unfortunate domestic mishap.
To purchase this policy, you have to satisfy the following criteria:
You can only be covered if:
Yes, FWD Personal Accident and Infectious Disease Coverageincludes overseas medical expenses for both inpatient and outpatient treatments, in the event you meet with an accident. You will be reimbursed for medical expenses that are deemed medically necessary. This could include the cost of ambulance transportation and treatment by a Medical Practitioner.
This means that even when COVID-19 settles, you will still be covered for accidents overseas when you finally get to travel. In the event of medical evacuation, this plan covers you for that as well.
However, exclusions apply to the following:
You can consider getting a personal accident plan if you:
Personal accident insurance pays you a lump sum in the event of accidental death, permanent disability or serious injuries. You can also make claims for medical expenses incurred as a result of the accident. For example, if you broke an arm in an e-scooter accident and could still go back to work, you may still qualify for the benefit. In more serious cases, like surviving an accident and becoming permanently disabled, personal accident insurance can also offer you a payout that will help you support the loss of income in the coming years.
Health insurance, on the other hand, only offers reimbursement coverage for medical treatments and ward stays when you are hospitalised. It does not offer accidental death or total permanent disability payouts, as well as outpatient benefits like personal accident plans.
For life insurance, it covers death and total permanent disability, much like personal accident plans. But the similarity ends there; life insurance covers you for natural death causes or death due to illness, and the death benefit is paid out to beneficiaries upon the insured’s death. The premiums are usually higher, but it comes with a cash value component to grow your savings as they offer higher yield interest rates. There is an option for policy holders to take a policy loan.
Under personal accident plans, while it covers wider medical eventualities such as fractures and burns, you may not encash the policy if there are no accidental events.
If you have more than one Personal Accident insurance with FWD, your insurance coverage will be limited to only one Policy – the Policy that provides you the highest benefit level for any given benefit.
However, the terms and conditions differ for each individual insurance provider and it may be possible to file for claims on your existing personal accident policies with other providers. It is important that you check for the coverage that is provided by each individual Personal Accident insurance.
FWD Singapore has partnered with SingSaver to offer the FWD Personal Accident and Infectious Disease Coverage to consumers, providing not just personal accident protection but also COVID-19 coverage at a time when we need it most.
